Crane Collapse in West Michigan
On behalf of Grand Rapids Litigation Attorneys Blog posted in Construction Litigation on Monday, February 27, 2012
The most recent addition to the Kent County Jail hit a slight delay when a crane that was carrying a load collapsed. This type of construction accident can lead to many levels of litigation.
The immediate thought goes to the injuries such an accident caused. If any individuals sustained physical injury or death, many parties can be liable to them. These types of litigation can be very complex with doctor testimony and the argument of who is at fault for this accident.
The more overlooked dispute involves the parties that were contracted in the construction itself. Not only is there likely litigation if one party was at fault for the crane collapsing but there are most likely delays, extra work, extra material cost, and the possibility of the repair work not meeting the contractual requirements that will be disputed. These types of litigation are even more complex then those previously discussed. The contract interpretation and the expert testimony regarding the different facets of the construction can almost seem endless. Highly competent, experienced attorney's will be required if such a situation was to arise.
